"Fokins" — that's all of us. My grandfather, my father, and me.
My grandfather made furniture by hand. He had his own lathe — chairs, tables, candlesticks, cabinets. When I was a boy, he built me a computer desk. That desk lasted 30 years. Someone still has it today, because when real craftsmanship goes into wood, it doesn't just hold up — it becomes part of a family.
I grew up at his workshop, watching him work, breathing in the smell of fresh cedar and sawdust. Wood wasn't just a material to me — it was how my grandfather expressed love. My father worked the same way, but in construction: plumbing, heating systems, large-scale builds — apartment towers, hospitals, schools, cottages. From him I learned how structures come together, how materials behave, how to solve problems that matter.
I carried both of them with me when I moved to Texas and started Fokins Custom Woodwork. The name isn't just a business name — it's a tribute to my father and grandfather, both of whom are no longer with me. Every fence I build, every piece of custom wood I shape, carries something of theirs in it.
But I brought something of my own too. Beyond construction, my life has taken me through business coaching, life coaching, and deep study of human psychology and conflict resolution. I've learned that most problems — whether in a building or between people — come down to the same thing: someone not feeling heard. So when you call me, you don't just get a contractor. You get someone who listens, who solves problems, and who genuinely wants to become a trusted friend to every client I work with.
